The First-Year College Success is an interdisciplinary course designed to introduce students to the academic culture, values and expectations of Holy Family University. For that reason, the framework guiding this experience is the Mission and Core Values of the university.

In order to understand the complexity of each core value, the university has selected service-learning as the form of methodology in which students will participate in “reflective” and “reciprocal” activities (Jacoby B., 1996)*. This project will require you to critically think about the issues being addressed by your selected agency as well as learn from the human interaction from those being served. Thus, indirectly, you now have become actively involved within your own society.
